Everyone has a definition
of conflict that is forged
from the experiences of everyday living.

Few would disagree that conflict is a part of the human existence. Depending on how it's handled, conflict in an organization can create animosity, division, even chaos; or it can be a force to sharpen faculties, improve motivation, and lead to creative and satisfying solutions to problems. It is this latter potential outcome to conflict that we seek in this program.
Difference: "a disagreement or clash between ideas, principles, or people."

Definition of Conflict
Everyone has a definition of conflict that is forged from the experiences of everyday living. One person's definition may differ from another as war differs from a hard-fought game of Scrabble. At its most basic level, conflict is simply a difference between views of two people as suggested by the dictionary definition provided above. When the difference between views makes a difference to one or both of the parties involved is when we engage conflict management skills to resolve the situation.
